Lindskov-thiel Ranch, Isabel, South Dakota, USA
Lindskov-thiel seedstock operation is based in Isabel, South Dakota, USA, operated by Brent and Nancy Thiel. Their purebred herd, including 300 Charolais and 250 Angus females, runs on native, shortgrass pastures where the annual rainfall is 16 inches per year and 20 to 25 acres are needed to run a cow.
Their long-term focus is on customers, cattle and land. They have a great respect for their #1 customer, the commercial calf producers. They raise a superior product that will generate tons of high-quality beef, doing it mostly on land not suited to other food production. With all cattle genetic decisions and uncompromising customer service, they strive to add value and profit to the commercial rancher.
Lastly, they view their land as a gift to steward. Aiming to leave it better than when they got there, planting countless trees, employ good water management and maintain conservative grazing rates on both the native and seeded pastureland.
I have great respect for Brent Thiel’s knowledge in the seedstock industry after first meeting in Denver in 1990.
The Lindskov family run a large commercial operation of 10,000 cows. AI breed 5000 heifers per year alongside a low birthweight Charolais herd of 500 cows.
