Lindsay Jones of LJ Breeding Solutions first trained as an AI technician 1972 some 50 years ago.
In 1973 and 1974 we took up employment with Wairaki Station, Otautau Southland and we were involved in some of first large scale AI commercial beef programs in New Zealand with the euro-cross breeds and gene-pool Herefords. In 1983 to 1987 we worked with CRV New Zealand in the dairy industry and also saw the first introduction of USA beef and dairy genetics into New Zealand. We have an excellent knowledge of the dairy beef industry giving all this moving forward LJ Breeding Solutions in 2023.
ANGUS
We launched a team of some 5 to 6 calving ease
sires with breeding leading fertility structure do ability last-ability and carcass traits. These bulls are designed in the main for maiden heifer matings and set time insemination. Matauri Reality 839 will feature heavily in the dam lines of these sires and we have identified K G Justified 3020 as a global calving ease leader with over 20,000 recorded calving records in the USA.
CHAROLAIS
We will launch 3 of the most elite calving ease short gestation sires with growth and marbling sires and we are investing in Charolais genetics from USA and Australia for the future designed for dairy industry.
BLAZE FACE BLACK SIMMENTAL
Can be utilised across Friesian Jersey and kiwi cross and won’t brindle. We are developing this gene and hope to release some sires in 2024.
DAIRY INDUSTRY
Most import that we find sires that have short gestation calving ease growth and marbling and they colour mark in an industry that has a big kiwi-cross influence.

Angus Hereford blaze face black Simmental. Can be utilised across Friesian Jersey and kiwi cross and won’t brindle. These sires will be released in 2025.
